Track Run Day

The kit for track run day shit.

JobIntervals, repeats, lane work
HeroNike ZoomX Dragonfly 2
Watch DeskCOROS Pace 3 + Sinn 556 A

Track day is short and sharp — warm-up miles in trainers, strides, then pins for the work. The closet is spikes or fast flats for the reps, a light GPS that counts laps, and an analog on silicone when the screen can wait.

This kit is for interval and repeat sessions on a 400 m oval. Not trail mud. Not a marathon long run. Yield inside, announce when you pass, leave the stadium better than you found it. Runner’s World’s 400 m playbook still holds: higher effort, honest recovery, and not every Tuesday on the same loop.

Shape: change into spikes for the work. COROS for splits. Sinn for the rest of the day.
Training

400-meter repeats

“Because they are a shorter distance, they’re often done at a slightly higher effort than most interval workouts.”

Raj Hathiramani — Mile High Run Club, via Runner’s World

Runner’s World’s 400 m guide treats one lap as an honest unit. Coaches often use ~80–90% effort with short walks between, and program 400s every three to four weeks — not every Tuesday — so the oval stays a stimulus, not a monotony trap. Buckingham’s line in the same piece still lands for distance runners: raise your top-end speed and marathon pace feels softer.

For this kit: warm up in trainers, change into spikes for the work, count the laps on Pace 3, and leave lane 1 clear when someone is flying.

Smartwatch + Analog

Watch Desk

Two lanes on the wrist: COROS Pace 3 for track mode and split math on a light strap, and Sinn’s 556 A on black silicone — instrument-watch DNA without a dress bracelet on a sweaty oval. Pair them. A Tuesday 400 session does not need an expedition brick.

Lightweight GPS trainer with track-run tools, long battery, and a strap that disappears on repeat days. Photographed: Pace 3.

COROS builds Pace 3 for runners who want accurate training data without the bulk — track workouts, daily training load, and battery that covers a week of intervals without babysitting the charger.

COROS — Pace 3

Why Pace 3 on track day: You need lap counting and honest splits more than topo maps. Pace 3 is the light daily tool. Save Fēnix-class bricks for jungle and mountains.

Analog · silicone

Sinn 556 A

~$1,400 · Ref. 556 class · silicone · Buy at Sinn

38 mm instrument watch — matte dial, sapphire, luminous hands — on Sinn’s black silicone strap so sweat and rubber lanes never meet a dress bracelet. Photographed: 556 A on silicone.

Sinn builds the 556 as a clean tool watch: legible, tough, and meant to be worn. The silicone strap is the track-day configuration — not a lounge bracelet.

Sinn — 556 A / silicone strap

Why-go-analog on track day: GPS owns the workout. Sinn owns the warm-up jog, the stands, and the drive home — time without another screen. Niche German instrument watch, quality only.

Pair them. Pace 3 for track mode, splits, and the work. Sinn 556 A on silicone when the session ends and you still want a real watch on the wrist. GPS for the oval. Analog for the rest of the day.
